Tyres  is the UK spelling;  Tires is the US spelling. Since I like using the "Queen's" English, am sticking to the UK spelling. Listed are a profile of tyres that have been out on events with me and will introduce each one through the year. Normal profile of tyres that have been out are 205/60 R, i.e. 205 mm depth and 600 mm wide.

Bisaniiwewin: Jan 2012 - still in service

Picture
Bisaniiwewin was found tossed aside in a farmer's shed, hidden in a darken corner. For the scars she bore rendered her now useless in the life she once led, which was to zoom madly over snowy trails. She was now dirty, cold and wretched but to TG, she was the special one.

With the help of her human handlers, Erin and Jeremy, Bisanii was prepared, cleaned and cabled. Chamey checked her out and thought she would be fab, but Bisanii was not convinced. She felt her scars made her ugly. TG convinced her that her scars made her wise and beautiful by turning them into flowers. Once made over, Bisanii was a new tyre.......a peace tyre.

She had a simple message for the world, that is to pull together for environmental peace, hence "Pulling For Peace".

She has taken part in the Arrowhead Ultra marathon and gone further than any of TG's tyres in one event (60 miles).

TG has promised to come back for her and complete the Arrowhead Ultra. So she sits waiting in a Wisconsin garage for TG to come back.

Amani: August 2011 - September 2011

Picture
At the top of the world
Amani is the first peace tyre, lovingly prepared by Tyre GrandPa (Uncle Pete) for the sole purpose of ascending Kilimanjaro.

Upon Kilimanjaro, his mission was to teach about what "pulling together for peace" meant. He would show that there will be many interpretations of what "pulling together for peace" meant and only through humbleness and humility can peace be achieved for all.

He has now been retired to talks around the UK with Tyre GrandPa and Tyre GrandMa

Landy: Mar 2011 - still in service

Landy is a "tyre's tyre" popular with the tyres in TG's camp and the humans he comes into contact with. He's definitely got more rubber at 15kg; 235 mm depth; 700 mm radius. Red fell in love with him the minute their treads touched! He is a genuinely nice tyre and so all the humans that see him want to take him home! In Richmond Park Marathon everyone wanted to get on the pull with him. He is often seen out on training runs with TG.

Marathons completed so far:
- Richmond Park Marathon (May 2011)

Red: Mar 2011 - still in service

Picture
Red thinks she is a posh tyre and should be doing modelling work.

She does not like to get her paint scratched and so does not like grass, dirt, hills, mud, road.......- so unlike her brother Rec. TG had to force her onto the road to get her going and had to put up with her squeeks throughout the Daffodil Dawdle. It was only when she got kicked a couple of times by another runner, that she started to behave as well as received a baptism of mud to finish. (....errrr....it was by accident)

She completed her first marathon Daffodil Dawdle (Mar 2011) and is still undergoing training therapy.

Marathons completed:
- Daffodil Dawdle (26.2 miles) - Mar 2011
- High Weald Challenge (26.2 miles) - July 2011
- Gatliff Ultra Marathon (50K) - Nov 2011
- Christmas Challenge (26.6 miles) - Dec 2011

Tring: Dec 2008 - still in service

Tring's debut to the tyre dragging scene was in the Singapore marathon (SCSM), 2008 where she buddied up with Trang.  Unfortunately she was unable to complete that marathon and was taken off the reigns after 6 miles. This nearly destroyed her confidence. However, with Trang refusing to do the SCSM 2010, Tring was brought into full service. To help her, she was given a make over and made to look after a bunch of animals. She loved the event.

Now with her new found confidence, she has got involved training/coaching runners to improve their running posture.

She has completed the Singapore Marathon 2010 in 8:08 but expect to see more of her in the future.

Trang: Dec 2006 - still in service

Trang is probably the most pictured tyre in Singapore, and is the first tyre to complete a marathon with me in Singapore, 2006. He was then splashed on the front page of the local nationwide newspaper "The Straits Times". Unfortunately he has not been out much since that time, preferring to keep himself immaculate for photo shoots instead!

He has completed the following marathons:
- Singapore 2006
- Singapore 2008

Rec: Aug 2010 - Aug 2011

Rec has been in the tyre collection for a little while, learning the ropes from Tam and Ted. He does not have the same animal magic as Tam, however, whilst Tam and Ted have been subjected to ridicule from gangs of kids/teenagers, he has received much "kudos" recognition from gangs of kids/teenagers.  In fact teenagers seem in awe of him and he has fun taking them for a run! Rec does not like hills and the sight of one will immediately cause him to bounce up on ones arm to be carried up.

He has completed a number of Parkrun events, After Adoption 5K event and :
- Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 (26.2 miles) - August 2010
- Where Raven's Dare (25.5 miles) - Oct 2010
- Steppingly Steps (26 miles) - Nov 2010
- Enigma Quadzilla (4 marathons in 4 days) - Feb 2011
- London Marathon - Apr 2011
- Hatfield & McCoy Marathon (Part 1)(Part II) - June 2011
- Santa Rosa Marathon (Part 1)(Part II)- August 2011

Rec is well respected by other runners and has been now given a place of honour in Orhan's sports museum, in Santa Rosa

Tamzarina: aka Tam (2007- Sept 2010)

Picture
Picture
In 2007, Tam was introduced and followed Ted where ever he went when we went out. She did not like to be in the lead. In May 2010, with the old man feeling tired, Tam did her duty and came out on her own for her first event. She loved it and where ever she went she had a smile for all. She has a magical pied piper effect on animals: sheep; cows; horses; dogs; runners......with many runners seemly enamoured by her!

She has completed:
- Farthingstone FootFest (26.5 miles) - (May 2010)
- Langport 2 Day Festival - both days 26 miles each - (June 2010)
- Fairlands (26.2 miles) - (July 2010)
- Two2Go (26.2 miles) - (Sept 2010)

She now does smaller events as the long distance in her treads has been making her feel a little worn.

Tedology: aka Ted (2006- April 2010)

Picture
Ted is the old man of my collection and was given to me by one of them tyre-changing garage places round the corner from where I live. He was my first training tyre and is the only tyre to have traveled in my suitcase to New York and was one of three tyres to complete the Pen-y-fan horseshoe. The following lists marathons he has completed:
- New York marathon (Nov 2007)
- Town to Tring (40 miles) - (Feb 2008)
- London marathon (Apr 2009)
- Bedford Clangers (27 miles) - (Mar 2010)
- Bath Beat (26.5 miles) - (Apr 2010)

Has been featured in the Columbia Spectator however has now been retired from long events and lives with TyreGirl2 helping her with her "running lean".
